OpenService Rated as "Visionary" in Gartner SIEM Magic Quadrant
Company's vision tops other vendors in use case integrating Security Information and Event Management with other installed vulnerability and systems management products.
Marlborough, MA. - May 16, 2007 - OpenService, Inc., a leader in Enterprise Event Management (EEM) solutions, announced that the Gartner consulting firm cites OpenService as one of three companies described as "visionaries" in its annual review of 20 top vendors in the market Gartner calls Security Information and Event Management (SIEM). The Gartner report rates leading vendors along dimensions of their "ability to execute" and "completeness of vision," plotting the results in a widely respected graph known as the Magic Quadrant.
Gartner advises that "OpenService is a good choice for organizations that are looking for an out-of-the-box SIEM solution with modest upkeep and server-side resource requirements." The reports highlights OpenService in two common customer "use cases" - one which places a premium on "simple deployment and support," and another in which SIEM products "are integrated with an incumbent vendor's vulnerability management and systems management products."
"Since the majority of our customers - including many Fortune 500 companies - rely on our InfoCenter solutions to analyze and correlate the overwhelming amount of information they get from other vendor's products, it is gratifying to have Gartner validate the value of InfoCenter in such unequivocal terms," said Ted Joseph, CEO at OpenService. "To learn that no other vendor outshines our vision in integrating event and log information from multiple vendors into a single alert and network management system lets us know that our focus is right on target."
Gartner analysts found that the need to assure regulatory compliance is broadening the SIEM market to include organizations with smaller security staffs and limited system support capabilities. "For these buyers," the report says, "pre-defined function and ease of deployment and support is valued over advanced function and extensive customization."
To rate the completeness of each vendor's vision, Gartner analysts gave high weight to factors including the degree to which companies "are adapting to customer requirements in areas such as log management, simplified implementation and support, and compliance reporting, while also meeting SEM requirements." Vendor innovation was another key criterion for the analysts as they evaluated how vendors differentiate their SIEM technology "in a way that uniquely solves critical customer problems."
