Enterprise Security Management & Security Threat Management

National Law Firm Implements ThreatCenter and Realizes Significant Time Savings

Westborough, Mass - May 10, 2004 - OpenService ™, Inc., the leader in enterprise security management software, today announced that Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal LLP, a national law firm, has realized significant cost savings and more efficient management of the firm's international security network by implementing OpenService's ThreatCenter. Instead of spending all their time reacting to alarms from multiple point solution consoles, Sonnenschein has leveraged ThreatCenter to use existing resources more effectively, enabling the team to focus more on threat prevention while ThreatCenter monitors real-time attack activity.

Sonnenschein, recognized for its use of innovative service-enhancing technologies, has 11 offices with 2000 employees across the United States. The company chose OpenService's ThreatCenter in order to enhance the protection of the firm's highly sensitive legal data. ThreatCenter cost-effectively monitors and correlates the firm's multiple security applications, firewalls and intrusion detection systems in real-time, as well as integrates data from vulnerability management and anti-virus solutions. The resulting consolidated threat analyses are used to quickly generate useful reports for the firm's senior management team. ThreatCenter's efficiencies have enabled Sonnenschein's security team to tackle important security projects that they did not have the time to take on before.

"ThreatCenter identifies and escalates legitimate security threats and sends them to our wireless devices in real-time, enabling us to respond promptly. Instead of dealing with multiple, disconnected vendor consoles, it has given us one-stop monitoring and management of all attacks and vulnerabilities," said Adam Hansen, manager of security, Sonnenschein. "The rapid implementation and outstanding results from ThreatCenter have surpassed our expectations; we will be expanding its deployment and reach in 2004."

ThreatCenter is the first enterprise security event management application to map security attacks to the lines of business they target and their effects on the network, enabling operators to make faster, more informed responses. It enables better decision-making, greater efficiency and improved threat resistance by delivering timely, actionable and relevant security alerts to operators. In addition, ThreatCenter's enterprise interoperability, correlation, analysis and visualization features give users the broadest possible perspective, deployment flexibility and reporting capabilities in the industry. The benefits of deploying ThreatCenter include:

  • False positive and false negative reduction;
  • Real-time threat triage and prioritization;
  • Earlier responses in the attack cycle, reducing costs and business impact;.
  • Business impact mitigation; and
  • Lowered remediation costs.

    "Sonnenschein's rapid deployment of ThreatCenter and the savings they immediately realized emphasizes ThreatCenter's compelling return on investment," said Phil Hollows, Vice President of Product Marketing for OpenService. "Sonnenschein shows that ThreatCenter has the industry's lowest implementation costs and proven ability to improve the effectiveness of even the most expert and committed security team."
